The Incredible I Ching

What is great, originating and penetrating: Meet the ' Great Man '.

Comment: But there is no responding Yin line which gives nourishment and sustainment. It requires vigilance to keep this force within reasonable bounds. Hexagram 1: Base Trigram Sequence

Louis T Culling: The Pristine Yi King

KHIEN: Lingam of Lingham

Great and originating. Penetrating. Firm and correct. Activity. Advantageous.

There is no Yin principle in this figure, and therefor nothing is to be recieved, nourished or developed. in that which has been originated or started.

If one is "firm and correct", it is aus[icious for originating or initiating something. But note the injunction of the text, which says:

It is not the time for active doing
i.e., it is excellent for both planning and setting into motion the activity, but response and development must await the future.

It may be generally implied that when initiated with firmness and correctness, there is a result; but the Hexagram does not guarantee responsive results. ( Refer to the opposite figure, Number 64 - Khwan of Khawn )

There is a warning in this Hexagram to not exceed the proper limits of activity. It warns against blind, uncontrolled, or misdirected activity and energy. It is not good for a man/woman relatinoship.

The text correctly stresses that

It is advantageous to meet with the Great Man.
In fact, it is advisable to aspire to wisdom or high counsel. There is an obscure reference in an appendix that this Hexagram is the "great transformer" --- which should also be gven greater consideration. Hexagram 1: Base Trigram Sequence

Louis T Culling:
The Complete Magical Curriculum of the O.:B.:G.:

Khien is the Superior trigram

1. Great originating or initiating force, but there is no Yin line to give response, nourishment and sustainment --- therefore it requires vigilance and restraint to keep the force within bounds. The Oracle for the outcome must wait until there is a Yin response. Time to mee the 'Great Man' ( one's Divine Genius). Hexagram 1: Base Trigram Sequence
