Appendix M: Arrangements of The Hexagrams

King Wen Arrangement

This is the sequence of hexagrams as currently found in the Yi Jing. This sequence was standardized between 200 BCE and 200 CE. It was formally recognized when K'ung Yin T'a ordered the Yi Jing to be carved in stone, during the seventh century. The first hexagram is on the first line on the right hand side. The sixtyfourth hexagram is on the eight line on the left hand side.
