A Synopsis of Interpretation

1. One develops a hexagram in one's usual manner.
2. Use the following table to find the applicable house and position with that house of the hexagram.

3. Determine which line represents the » self « and which line represents the » other « from the following table of houses.

4. Breakdown the hexagram into its component trigrams. Then using the chart below, determine the elements for the hexagram.

5. Designate all the lines and trigrams which you have so far compiled.
6. Use the following to develop the predictions.
   • Earth generates Metal
   • Metal generates Water
   • Water generates Wood
   • Wood generates Fire
   • Fire generates Earth
   • Earth conquers Water --- absorption
   • Water conquers Fire --- quenches
   • Fire conquers Metal --- melting
   • Metal conquers Wood --- cutting
   • Wood conquers Earth --- extracting
7. Use the following to determine the indicators:
   • If a line generates the house of the hexagram, then Parents and Ancestors are indicated.
   • If a line is the same as the house of the hexagram, then Brothers, Sisters and Peers are indicated.
   • If a line conquers the house of the hexagram, then Bosses, Officials and Troublemakers are indicated.
   • If a line is generated by the house, then descendent are indicated.
   • If a line is conquered by the House, then Wives, Sweethearts Money or the Professions are indicated.
8. The upper trigram is external, receeding dissolving.
   The Lower trigram is internal, coming, being created.
9. These are then pushed together, to make the interpretation, or the prediction of the hexagram.
